GUSTO, a 1968 Kenner built classic, K23

GUSTO (a bird's eye view to the right), is a 1968 version, designated as hull no. 61 by Kenner Yachts of Arkansas, USA. 

On the outside, the hull gleams forest green Awlgrip; offset by decks, which are are cream in colour.  Four brass, lexan portlights adorn the cabin, suggesting a classic appearance.  Traditional teak trim abounds in the form of four hatch covers, several backing plates, generous coamings, and a surrounding rubrail (gunwale).  Stout stainless steel fittings are used throughout.  

The clean bright white saloon interior is accented with just the right amount of dark teak to provide a rich contrast.  Mildew resistent blue Sunbrella cushions, on two opposing settees offer a respite from the weather, while adding to a marine-like atmosphere in the airy cabin. 

 

EQUIPMENT LIST:

GUSTO sports a quality inventory.

  • A main and jib, which were new in 2007, and used one season since.  As might be expected, they are crisp and clean.
  • Also new in 2007, is the running rigging.
  • All blocks & fittings are upraded stainless steel.  There are four winches (2 on the cabin top).
  • The engine, a small Johnson, rides tucked in a stern well. 
  • On the inside, the electrical panel porvides a large, fully functioning display of the circuitry.  There is a separate swithch for the bilge pump.
  • There are life jackets, flares and a throw ring PFD.

CARL ALBERG'S EYE FOR PERFECTION

A Carl Alberg brainchild, the Kittiwake 23 is virtually identical to the Alberg 22, Sea Sprite 23 & South Coast 23.  The New England sloop design is user friendly and very seaworthy; suitable for day sailing, overnighting or extended weekend sorties. 

GUSTO utilizes a full keel to balance her 23 foot length.  The beam, about 7.5ft. coupled with low freeboard, provides a 'sporty feel' in response to wave & wind.  She has ample interior sleeping room, as well, with berths to port, starboard & forward.,
